Why the S550 Is the Most Modified Mustang Ever Built
The 2015-2023 S550 is the generation that brought independent rear suspension to the Mustang, and it changed what the car could be asked to do. Across nine model years Ford put four genuinely different engines on the same chassis: the 2.3L EcoBoost turbo four, the 5.0L Coyote V8 in the GT, Bullitt and Mach 1, the 5.2L flat-plane-crank Voodoo in the GT350, and the supercharged 5.2L Predator in the GT500. Because they share a platform, the suspension, brake, chassis and aero catalogue is enormous and largely interchangeable, while the engine parts are specific to your motor.
That is why this page covers the whole platform instead of splitting it by trim. A set of Steeda coilovers, a BMR subframe brace or an Anderson Composites splitter does not care whether there is a turbo four or a supercharged V8 in front of it. Use the trim and year filters to narrow down when a part is engine-specific, and call 805-267-9762 if you want it confirmed before you buy.
S550 Mustang Build Guide: Where to Start
Stage 1: First Mods ($500–$1,500)
EcoBoost 2.3T: a cold air intake (Airaid, Injen, Mishimoto), an intercooler upgrade from CVF or Mishimoto to kill heat soak, and a COBB Accessport tune, together 30-50+ whp. GT 5.0 Coyote: an axle-back or cat-back from Borla or Corsa for the sound, a JLT or Steeda intake, and a tune; the Coyote responds modestly to bolt-ons alone, so most GT owners spend here on exhaust note and handling first. GT350 / GT500: start with tires, pads and fluid, because both cars leave the factory with more engine than most drivers use, and the first real gain is in stopping and cornering.
Stage 2: Serious Power ($1,500–$4,000)
EcoBoost: a 3-inch downpipe from CVF or CP-E is the single biggest restriction removed, then a full cat-back and E30 flex fuel with a proper tune, giving 320-380 whp on the stock turbo. GT: long-tube headers and an off-road or high-flow mid-pipe, a ported throttle body and intake manifold, plus a custom tune; this is also where most GT owners add coilovers and a bigger front brake package. GT500: a smaller supercharger pulley, a high-flow lid and a custom tune reliably add 60-100+ whp on the factory Predator blower.
Stage 3: Full Build ($4,000–$10,000+)
EcoBoost: a bolt-on turbo upgrade such as the Precision NX2 or a Full Race kit supports 400-500+ whp with injectors, a high-pressure fuel pump and a race intercooler behind it. GT: a Whipple, Roush or Edelbrock supercharger takes a stock-bottom-end Coyote to 700-800+ whp with supporting fuel. GT350: headers, tune and aero, then a built bottom end if you are going forced induction on the Voodoo. GT500: an upgraded blower or larger heat exchanger, fuel system and a race tune push past 800 whp. Whatever the engine, coilovers from KW, BC Racing or Steeda, a big brake kit, and carbon aero from Anderson Composites or RW Carbon are what turn power into lap time.

Why Choose Function Factory Performance
Function Factory Performance is not just an online parts store: we are a hands-on performance shop that builds and installs every type of product we sell. Our Thousand Oaks, California facility has been building S550 Mustangs since the platform launched in 2015: EcoBoost, GT, GT350 and GT500. We created the original GT Killer Kit that became one of the most popular EcoBoost build packages in the country, and we run a Shelby GT500 of our own on track. Every part in our catalog is something we've tested, installed, and trust on our own builds. When you call 805-267-9762, you're talking to someone who has actually turned wrenches on these cars, not a call center reading a script.
