Function Factory Performance owns a McLaren Artura Trophy Evo and is building toward competition in the McLaren Trophy America championship. As a McLaren specialist shop, taking one of Woking’s purpose-built race cars to the grid is the natural next chapter for us. This page is an open look at the car and the series — and an invitation to the brands who want to go racing with us.

The Machine

What we campaign

The McLaren Artura Trophy Evo is a purpose-built race car — not a road car with a roll cage. It shares the McLaren Carbon Fibre Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) carbon chassis with the Artura road car, but the hybrid system is removed entirely for racing. What’s left is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 in a lightweight carbon tub, producing lap times in the same conversation as GT3 machinery within a single-make format. New cars are bespoke builds from the production line — this is not an upgrade kit bolted onto a street car.

Push-to-Pass Strategy: 300 seconds of extra power per race, deployed by a button on the F1-style steering wheel. Spend it early to build a lead, or save it to defend? If a safety car erases the gap, was an early burst wasted? When two drivers share a car, who gets the bigger allocation? This is where races are won on strategy, not just outright speed.

One-Make Racing, McLaren Style

McLaren Trophy America is McLaren’s North American single-make championship, launched in 2025. Every entrant races an identical Artura Trophy Evo, so results come down to driver skill, team execution, and strategy — not budget-driven car development. Race weekends run alongside major North American sports-car events, with rounds at circuits like Sonoma, COTA, VIR, Road Atlanta, Road America, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

Races are sprint-format with a mandatory pit stop, and the championship offers Pro, Pro-Am, and Am classes so professional and amateur drivers can compete on a level field. All races are streamed on McLaren Automotive’s official channels.

New for 2027 — IMSA sanctioning. McLaren Trophy America has announced a long-term deal to move under IMSA — North America’s premier sports-car body — starting in the 2027 season, after debuting under SRO America. It becomes IMSA’s sixth sanctioned single-make series, sharing paddocks with the likes of Ferrari Challenge and Lamborghini Super Trofeo. It’s a major step up in profile for the championship and everyone racing in it.
