BRIDE Japan — Built for the Drivers Who Notice Everything

BRIDE has been making racing seats out of Saitama, Japan since 1976. Forty-plus years of building seats that show up in JGTC, Super GT, D1 Grand Prix, Formula Drift, and tens of thousands of street-driven JDM builds worldwide. The Gradation fabric — the rainbow stripe pattern that became synonymous with Japanese tuning culture — was their work, and they still hand-cut it the same way.

Every BRIDE seat is built around the same idea: protect the driver, transmit the chassis, look correct. The shell construction (Aramid carbon, FRP, or premium dry carbon depending on tier), the foam density, the bolster geometry, and the harness routing are all engineered for the specific role of the seat. A ZIEG IV is built to take a 6-point harness at 8/10ths on a track day. A STRADIA III is built to lay back, fit a daily-driven car, and survive a 10-hour road trip without crushing your back.

If your build has BRIDEs, people know exactly what kind of build it is.

Fixed Bucket vs Reclining — Which BRIDE Is Right?

This is the question every BRIDE buyer asks. The honest answer:

🏁

Fixed Bucket (ZIEG / ZETA / XERO / GRAMAX)

Track-first. FIA-certified, takes a real harness, holds you in at limit. Heavier on the body for daily driving — you climb over the bolster every time. Best if you actually go to the track, run HPDE, or drift.

🚗

Reclining (STRADIA / GIAS / EUROSTER / ERGOSTER / AIR)

Street-first. Lays back, fits normal-height humans, survives long drives. Most of the look, most of the support, none of the daily-driver pain. Best if it's a street car that sees occasional spirited driving or track days.

🔥

Premium Carbon (XERO, ZIEG WIDE Carbon, ZETA Carbon)

Same shells, pre-preg dry carbon construction. Lighter, stiffer, more expensive. Worth it for serious track builds and for the carbon-finish aesthetic.

Gradation Models

The iconic rainbow-striped BRIDE fabric. Available across ZIEG, ZETA, STRADIA, GIAS, XERO RS. If you love it, you know. It's not subtle, and that's the point.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between ZETA IV and ZIEG IV?

Both are fixed full-bucket competition seats, both FIA-eligible. ZIEG IV (and especially ZIEG IV WIDE) has a wider shoulder area — better for larger drivers or for drivers who want more shoulder room with a harness on. ZETA IV is the narrower, more aggressive bolster shape — lighter, holds you in tighter. ZETA IV is also the family with the most colorways (Gradation, Verio, Reims, Zetaghost, King). Both come in FRP or carbon shells.

What is BRIDE Gradation fabric?

Gradation is the rainbow-striped fabric pattern BRIDE introduced in the 1990s — alternating bands of red, blue, and silver/grey on black. It became one of the most recognizable design motifs in Japanese tuning culture. Today it’s available across the ZETA IV, STRADIA III, GIAS III, ZIEG IV, and XERO RS PLUS lineups. The pattern is hand-cut and assembled the same way it has been for 30+ years.

Do BRIDE seats come with rails?

No — seats and rails ship separately. BRIDE Super Seat Rails are vehicle-specific — you order the rail that matches your chassis (we stock the Mazda MX-5 ND L+R, and can source rails for most JDM and US-market chassis). The seat bolts to the rail using BRIDE’s standard side-mount pattern. If you don’t know which rail you need for your car, send us your year/make/model and we’ll spec it.

How long is FIA certification valid on a BRIDE bucket seat?

5 years from manufacture date for FIA 8855-1999 certified seats (which includes the ZIEG IV, ZETA IV, XERO, and GRAMAX families). The date is stamped on the FIA homologation tag on the seat shell. After 5 years the seat is no longer accepted for FIA-sanctioned competition — it’s still structurally fine for street use, track days, and most club-level events, but you can’t race it in any FIA-governed series. We can verify your seat’s recert date at install if you want to plan ahead.

What is the difference between STRADIA III and GIAS III?

STRADIA III is the slightly more aggressive bolster — tighter side support, more racy feel, still reclining. GIAS III is the more comfort-oriented option — broader shoulder area, more padding, easier to live with daily. Both lay back, both fit a wide range of drivers, both come in Gradation and standard cushion options. STRADIA III also has a Carbon Low Cushion variant for lower seating position in track-oriented builds.

Will a BRIDE bucket seat fit my (Miata / Civic / S2000 / WRX / 86 / Supra)?

In almost every case, yes — with the correct vehicle-specific seat rail. BRIDE has rails for essentially every JDM platform and most US-market sports cars. The seat itself uses a universal side-mount pattern; the rail is what makes it bolt to your chassis. Tell us your year/make/model and which BRIDE seat you’re considering, and we’ll confirm the correct rail before you order.

What is the XERO series and is it worth the price?

XERO is BRIDE’s top-tier competition family — pre-preg dry carbon shells, weight-optimized construction, and pro-racing engineering. XERO CS PLUS is the more aggressive bolster, XERO RS PLUS is the wider/more comfortable competition option. Both are FIA-certified and built for serious track and time-attack use. Worth it for: dedicated track builds, weight-conscious builds, and the carbon finish look. Not worth it for: casual daily-driven cars where a ZETA IV will look identical and save you four figures.

Does FFP install BRIDE seats?

Yes — our Thousand Oaks, CA shop installs BRIDE seats, rails, and harness anchors regularly. Common installs: seat + rail swap, ERGOSTER Formula Drift Edition on a drift car, ZETA IV Carbon + 6-point harness on a track build, Mazda MX-5 ND Super Seat Rail with STRADIA III for a daily-spec NDRF. We verify rail fitment, set seating position, and check torque spec on every install. Contact us to schedule.
