About Steeda Autosports — The World’s Leading Ford Performance Operation
Steeda Autosports is the world’s largest privately owned Ford performance operation and the single largest manufacturer of Ford-based performance parts. Founded in 1988 by Dario Orlando in Pompano Beach, Florida, Steeda has earned a reputation that no other Ford aftermarket brand can match: more race wins, records, and championships than Saleen, Shelby, and Roush combined.
Dario’s connection to Ford runs three generations deep. His grandfather Al Valeria joined Ford Motor Company in 1910 — just seven years after Henry Ford founded the company. His father Domenico worked on the Thunderbird, the original 1964½ Mustang, and the legendary Ford GT40 that beat Ferrari at Le Mans in 1967. Dario himself started racing competitively at 19 and won the South Atlantic Road Race Championship three consecutive years before founding Steeda.
Today, Steeda operates from facilities in Valdosta, Georgia and Pompano Beach, Florida, with a proprietary test track, in-house manufacturing, and ISO 9001:2008 certification. Every Steeda product is 100% manufactured in the United States and track-tested on employee personal vehicles before release.
Steeda Racing Heritage
Steeda’s racing resume is unmatched in the Ford aftermarket world. From IMSA and SCCA to quarter-mile drag records, Steeda-equipped vehicles have dominated every form of Mustang motorsport:
- 1989 — Won the IMSA Road Racing Series with a Steeda Mustang
- 1993 — Won the Outlaw 5-Liter World Championship
- 1995 — Developed the Mustang Cobra R suspension with Ford SVT — dominated at Sebring
- 1998 — Steeda Q Mustang clocked 0-150-0 mph in 26.1 seconds (Car and Driver), beaten only by a Lingenfelter Corvette
- 2003 — Won Sebring by 2+ seconds in IMSA GS class
- 2005 — 12 pole positions in 13 races, 11 first-place finishes in a single season
- 2007 & 2009 — Ford Motor Company Outstanding Achievement in Design Award at SEMA
- 2020 — “Silver Bullet” 2018 Mustang set the quarter-mile drag record: 9.76 seconds at 141 mph
Steeda also supplied suspension components for seven custom Mustangs featured in the 2014 film Need For Speed. Ford Racing contracted Dario directly for the Merkur XR4-TI suspension development program, and Steeda’s diagnostic work on 4.6L and 5.4L engines saved Ford an estimated $200 million in warranty costs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Steeda Autosports?
Steeda Autosports is the world's largest privately owned Ford performance operation and the single largest manufacturer of Ford-based performance parts. Founded in 1988 by Dario Orlando, Steeda has won more races, set more records, and claimed more championships than Saleen, Shelby, and Roush combined. They are headquartered in Valdosta, GA and Pompano Beach, FL, with all products manufactured in the USA.
What is the Steeda Stop The Hop kit?
Stop The Hop is Steeda's wheel hop elimination package for Mustang. Wheel hop is the violent shuddering that occurs during hard launches when the rear axle cannot maintain traction. Steeda offers three tiers: Street (daily-driver friendly), Drag (optimized for straight-line launches), and Ultimate (maximum traction for both street and strip). Each kit includes rear subframe braces, control arms, and bushings calibrated for the specific use case.
Does Steeda make parts for the 2024+ S650 Mustang and Dark Horse?
Yes. Steeda has an expanding lineup for the S650 Mustang and Dark Horse including ProAction shocks, coilovers, lowering springs, ProFlow cold air intakes, sway bars, camber plates, handling packages, and Trident wheels. New S650 products are being released regularly. FFP carries the full S650 Steeda catalog.
Are Steeda parts better than Roush or Shelby parts?
Steeda has a fundamentally different approach. While Roush and Shelby primarily sell badge packages and appearance kits, Steeda engineers and manufactures individual performance components that are track-tested and race-proven. Steeda's racing record — more wins than Saleen, Shelby, and Roush combined — speaks directly to the engineering quality of their parts. Their ISO 9001:2008 certification and proprietary test track ensure every component meets professional standards.
What are Steeda ProAction shocks?
ProAction is Steeda's premium shock and strut line for Mustang. Available in adjustable and non-adjustable versions, ProAction dampers are valved specifically for Mustang weight distribution and suspension geometry. They pair directly with Steeda lowering springs and are a core component of Steeda's Stage 1-5 handling packages. ProAction shocks deliver noticeably improved body control, reduced dive/squat, and flatter cornering compared to factory dampers.
What is included in a Steeda handling package?
Steeda handling packages are complete suspension upgrade kits that bundle compatible components into a single purchase. A typical Stage 1 includes lowering springs and shocks/struts. Higher stages add sway bars, camber plates, subframe braces, control arms, and end links. The packages are designed so each component works together — no guesswork on compatibility. FFP can install complete handling packages at our Thousand Oaks, CA shop.
Where are Steeda parts manufactured?
All Steeda products are 100% designed and manufactured in the United States. Steeda operates manufacturing facilities in Valdosta, Georgia and Pompano Beach, Florida. Their Valdosta facility includes a proprietary test track where all suspension and chassis components are validated before production. Steeda holds ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management.
Does FFP install Steeda suspension and handling packages?
Yes. Our technicians at our Thousand Oaks, CA shop install Steeda parts regularly — from individual component swaps to complete Stage 1-5 handling package installations. We handle coilovers, lowering springs, sway bars, camber plates, exhaust, intakes, and brake upgrades. Every installation includes a post-install inspection and test drive. Walk-ins welcome or schedule an appointment.
Does Steeda make parts for Ford Explorer ST and Bronco?
Yes. Steeda has expanded beyond Mustang to cover the Ford Explorer ST (sway bars, lowering springs, handling kits) and Ford Bronco (suspension, leveling kits, chassis braces). FFP carries the full Steeda Explorer ST and Bronco catalogs. These platforms benefit from the same engineering expertise Steeda applies to Mustang suspension development.
What is the warranty on Steeda products?
Steeda products carry a full manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. As an authorized Steeda dealer, all products purchased from FFP include the complete Steeda warranty. Steeda's ISO 9001:2008 certification and A+ Better Business Bureau rating reflect their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
