December 2022 was a turning point for Function Factory Performance. The City of Scottsdale served us an eviction notice over zoning permits. The allegations were baseless, and we later discovered that the complaint had ties to the city itself. After seven months of back-and-forth, the city dropped the case. Ironically, they informed us of this just as we were removing our last two post lifts. It was a surreal moment—watching the lift bolts being cut while being told we were cleared. But by then, it was too late. It was time to move on.​

We searched tirelessly for a new home, moving to a shop near Scottsdale Air Park and partnering with another individual. That relationship didn’t last, leading us to our next location. These transitions were stressful, but if you’re a small business owner, you understand the highs and lows that come with the territory.​

In August 2024, I made the bold decision to relocate myself and the company to Thousand Oaks, California. It was a wild move, but one that would redefine us. From being leaders in EcoBoost Mustang Performance, we evolved into a Thorney Motorsport McLaren Independent Specialist.​

Our new facility sits atop a hill on Thousand Oaks Blvd, offering 10 bays, two offices, and two bathrooms. The location provides excellent privacy for the vehicles we store and access to some of the most incredible driving roads in America—perfect for creating epic media content.​

We’ve joined forces with Technica Auto Parts, focusing on BMW, Lamborghini, and Porsche performance products. Thorney Motorsport of Los Angeles now calls this place home, serving as the premier outlet for McLaren services and upgrades. Additionally, Ceramic Pro of Newbury Park operates on-site, providing professional paint protection services. Our partnership with Ceramic Pro spans seven years, and we’re proud to continue that journey as an Elite Ceramic Pro Dealer.​

Over the past eight months, we’ve rebuilt our crew, unpacked, renovated, and refreshed the entire business. Our slogan, “Let’s do the damn thing,” isn’t just words—it’s our ethos. New names, faces, and cars have come through our doors, but our commitment to transparency and top-tier customer service remains unwavering.​

On April 26th, we celebrated our grand opening, a milestone that marked our resilience and growth. John Thorne’s presence reinforced our dedication to the McLaren community, helping us establish trust and credibility among local enthusiasts.​

I deeply appreciate everyone who’s been part of this journey. Now, it’s time to plant our roots here, offer the McLaren and Mustang communities the in-person service they deserve, and reignite the exciting content creation that defines us.​
