CTS Turbo’s proprietary high-flow 4.0″ downpipe for the EA855 EVO 2.5L TFSI five-cylinder. CAD-simulated flow, 304 stainless construction, dual 2.5″ outlets. Removes the restrictive factory main cats and finishes the modular CTS exhaust system the way Audi never could from the factory.
304 Stainless · CAD-Simulated Flow · 4.0″ to Dual 2.5″

This is a fully catless race downpipe. After install the Check Engine Light WILL come on without proper software. CEL deletes and emulators are not compatible with the EVO 2.5T platform — CTS strongly recommends running Stage 2 (or higher) software so the ECU calibration matches the new exhaust path. Plan the tune purchase alongside this install.
The EA855 EVO five-cylinder is one of the great engines of the modern era — 394 horsepower factory in the RS3, with the warble nobody else builds. The bottleneck on every one of these cars is the same: the factory main catalytic converters. CTS Turbo built this race downpipe to cut that restriction out of the equation entirely, with a 4.0″ primary section that splits cleanly into dual 2.5″ pipes engineered for even flow to both outlets.
This isn’t a chopped factory casting with cats welded out. The CTS team scanned the OEM downpipe in 3D, ran CAD flow simulation through the geometry, and CNC-machined the v-band and laser-cut the flanges so the part bolts to factory or aftermarket mid-pipes without slip-fit prayers. The result: meaningful exhaust flow gains, an aggressive five-cylinder sound the OEM cans choke off, and zero drone under cruising. It’s the missing piece of the modular CTS exhaust kit.
Designed for every 2.5T EVO (EA855) chassis Audi shipped to the US market. Pre-EVO RS3/TTRS (2.5T DAZA/CEPA pre-2018) requires a different downpipe.
| Make | Model | Years | Engine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Audi | RS3 (8V) | 2015 – 2021 | 2.5T EVO (EA855) |
| Audi | RS3 (8Y) | 2022 – 2023 | 2.5T EVO (EA855) |
| Audi | TTRS (8S) | 2016 – 2021 | 2.5T EVO (EA855) |
Large 4.0″ primary section splits into dual 2.5″ pipes engineered for balanced flow to each side of the modular exhaust. No restriction stepping down from the turbo.
Full 304-grade stainless construction — the same alloy used in food-processing equipment. Resists exhaust-temp corrosion long after lesser stainless or mild-steel parts are pitted out.
Flanges are laser-cut for accurate hole pattern; the v-band is precision CNC-machined. Slip-fit-style downpipes leak. CTS welds and machines like a race shop — the seal is positive every time.
Both O2 sensor bungs are positioned to match factory geometry so the ECU sees what it expects. Easier tune calibration, no extra extension cables, no improvised relocations.
CTS scanned the OEM downpipe in 3D and ran CAD exhaust-flow simulation on the new geometry to ensure both outlets carry equal mass flow. No guesswork in the bend radii.
The cats are what muffles the 2.5T five-cylinder warble. Without them, the engine speaks in its native voice on throttle — and stays civil at cruise RPM. No 70-mph drone headache.

Installing this downpipe requires dropping the driveshaft on most RS3/TTRS chassis. CTS sells a dedicated driveshaft removal/install tool that turns a multi-hour fight into a 15-minute drop. Search “CTS Driveshaft Tool” on FFP or call our team to add it to your build.

No. This downpipe is built specifically for the 2018+ EVO 2.5T (EA855) engine. The pre-EVO 2.5T (DAZA / CEPA, 2015-2017 in some markets) uses a different turbo and downpipe geometry — you need the CTS DAZA-spec downpipe instead.
No. This is a fully catless race downpipe intended for off-road / closed-course use. It removes the factory main catalytic converters and is not legal for street use in any US state. CTS Turbo and FFP do not warrant or support emissions-related concerns.
Without the cats, the post-cat O2 sensors throw a CEL because the ECU expects the factory cat efficiency reading. CEL deletes and emulators don’t work on the 2.5T EVO platform. Stage 2 software re-flashes the ECU to expect the new exhaust path so the CEL stays off.
Yes. The downpipe is sized to mate with both the factory mid-pipe and the CTS modular mid-pipe. If you’re running a third-party mid-pipe, confirm the inlet diameter is dual 2.5″.
Aggressive on throttle — the cats are what muffles the 2.5T’s five-cylinder warble. Off the gas it stays civil thanks to the OEM mid + rear muffler. No 70-mph cruise drone reported by customers running the modular CTS setup.
Strongly recommended. Most RS3 and TTRS chassis require dropping the driveshaft to clear the downpipe path. The CTS-spec tool is sold separately and turns a multi-hour wrestling match into a clean 15-minute drop.
