Dry Carbon Fiber vs Wet Carbon — Why It Matters

Not all carbon fiber parts are made the same. The biggest distinction is in how the carbon is processed — dry carbon vs wet carbon. Both use genuine carbon weave, but the production method, finish, and performance are completely different.

Dry carbon (pre-preg): the weave is pre-impregnated with resin, then cured in a heated autoclave under vacuum pressure. The result is a dense, rigid panel with minimal voids, uniform resin saturation, and a distinctive tight-weave finish. Used in Formula 1, aerospace, and OEM supercar components.

Wet carbon (hand-layup): resin is applied manually over dry carbon fabric at room temperature and cured without autoclave. Cheaper to produce but heavier, softer, and with more surface inconsistency (ripples, resin pooling, visible weave stretch). Common in budget aftermarket parts.

This spoiler is dry pre-preg carbon — the same process used on the OEM C8 ZR1 wing. You’re paying for the real thing, not a resin-rich hand-layup imitation.
