Bolt-on swap against factory mounts — standard hand tools:

OEM hood struts: The factory G8X hood struts are calibrated for the heavier metal hood. Once installed on a carbon fiber hood they over-extend and can stress the panel. Remove the struts entirely or replace them with lower-resistance carbon-hood-rated struts. When closing the hood, do not slam — apply even pressure with both palms until the latch engages. Slamming or leaving stock struts in place can lead to premature cracking and is not covered under RW’s fitment warranty.
