Why You Need One On A Corvette
The OEM PCV system on the C6 LS2/LS3/LS7 routes crankcase blow-by directly to the intake. Over time that oil-rich vapor coats the intake runners, valves, and intercooler (on supercharged builds). Symptoms include light blue/white smoke at startup, reduced octane sensitivity, and detonation tendencies in turbo/SC/nitrous applications.
A catch can intercepts the oil vapor before it reaches your throttle body. Cleaner intake = more consistent octane = more responsive throttle = healthier rings & valves. Especially critical for:
- Supercharged Corvettes (LS3 + LS7 with SC kits)
- Track use where heat cycles compound the problem
- Higher-mileage engines where stock breather behavior is already compromised
